Tadalafil
The active ingredient in Cialis, a PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Like sildenafil, tadalafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis. However, tadalafil has a much longer half-life, meaning it remains active in the body for up to 36 hours (which led to its nickname as the 'weekend pill').
Because of its long duration of action, tadalafil can be taken 'as needed' before activity, or in a lower dose as a daily medication (Daily Cialis), providing continuous readiness without scheduling.
Telehealth providers often offer both the as-needed and daily variations of generic tadalafil.
